Staff and volunteers at Worcestershire-based recycling and lifeskills project Second Chance Furnishings will now be able to help even more people in need after teaming up with a county fuel card company.

Independent reseller 3 Counties Fuel (3CF) has supplied the not-for-profit organisation with two fuel cards, which can be used at sites across the region including supermarkets.

Pauline Newcombe, managing director of 3CF, said: “We’ve tailored the cards to suit Second Chance’s requirements and they’ll soon see the cost benefits as the drivers will pay a commercial price which is several pence a litre cheaper than the normal pump price.

“Fuel cards are a great way to help charities and social enterprises reduce their fuel spend and they can also benefit from our free eRoute app, which brings up all of the garages en route where vans can fill up when they key in their destination.”

Second Chance Furnishings supports St Paul’s Hostel, which provides accommodation and support to single homeless people within Worcester city and around the county.

Operations co-ordinator Paul Clarke said: “The cards will have a significant effect as the project’s two transit vans regularly cover 650 miles a week between them throughout Worcestershire, Herefordshire and beyond.

“Online account management also frees up time previously spent dealing with credit card receipts.”
