As the old saying goes, teamwork makes the dream work and this was certainly the case with an inspirational book project CGM were involved in during 2020.
The story began when Chris Green was approached by fellow Worcestershire Ambassador Ian Jukes about a children’s book he was writing as a Christmas gift for his grandchildren.
Chris, an award-nominated author, agreed to edit the book and our creative partner Brendan McMahon was commissioned to create illustrations.
The Adventures of Thomas and the Magic Owl is a true ‘made in Worcestershire’ project. Ian and Chris both live in Worcester, Brendan is based in Bromsgrove and printers Lemon Press are located in Redditch.
After the book was published in December 2020, CGM editorial partner Teresa Green focused on promoting the book via PR and social media marketing.
Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages were set up and a press release circulated to local and regional media.
Teresa also liaised with FareShare Midlands in relation to Ian’s generous donation of 500 copies of the book to the charity, which is backed by Manchester United and England footballer Marcus Rashford. The books were given out with Christmas food parcels.
Ian also donated 250 copies to Worcestershire Ambassadors to be circulated to local charities and schools.
The book received extensive local media coverage via the following:
– Worcester Observer
– Evesham Observer
– Worcester News
– Bromsgrove Standard
– BBC Hereford & Worcester, who broadcast a ten minute interview with Ian
