17 Aug Follow in Kerry and Kurtan’s footsteps on This Country sponsored walk
Comedy fans can follow in the footsteps of iconic characters Kerry and Kurtan Mucklowe in the This Country Sponsored Walk on Saturday, September 10 at 11am.
This pleasant and relaxed 8km walk through the picturesque Cotswolds takes in many of the film locations that made the BBC comedy series such a huge BAFTA-winning success including Quenington, Coln St Aldwyns, Eastington and Northleach. It is open to walkers of all ages and abilities with families and children welcome.
Participants can walk at their own pace and event organisers the Children’s Football Alliance anticipate the walk will take between one hour 30 minutes and two hours to complete. Paul Cooper, who plays Martin Mucklowe in the series, is the CFA’s co-founder and director.
Registration costs £50 per entry whether you enter as an individual or a family and includes a This Country Sponsored Walk t-shirt.
All proceeds will go towards the CFA’s Global Peace Games which are held at the Flanders Peace Field in Belgium, the setting for the famous Christmas truce football matches.
The annual event sees mixed gender and mixed ability children with different needs and from diverse communities and war-torn regions benefit from a week-long peace education programme taught through play and sport. Every young person receives an Ambassador for Peace Certificate with the Global Peace Games helping to create peacemakers for the future.
The sponsored walk will be joined by media personality Nancy Dell’Olio, who will be presented with a peace poppy ball to take back to the Italian capital Rome to twin a peace pitch with Flanders Peace Field.
