Bishop Perowne CE College in Worcester is playing a key role in an exciting initiative to encourage more young people to consider careers in adult social care.

As part of the Worcestershire and Herefordshire-wide project, funded by the Association of Care Training (ACT), the college is hosting a workshop today (January 30) which aims to challenge students’ perceptions of what opportunities the sector can offer.

Pupils from Pershore High School, The King’s School Worcester and Worcester Sixth Form College, who have also been involved with the scheme, will visit Bishop Perowne on Wednesday (February 5) for a performance of Finding Joy by Vamos Theatre Company.

The play explores the relationship between creative pensioner Joy and her rebellious grandson Danny when he decides to become Joy’s carer.

John Plant, assistant head teacher and head of the performing arts specialism at Bishop Perowne College, said: “Vamos Theatre Company has been a long standing partner of the college and our students have been involved in many dynamic and memorable learning experiences as a result.

“This performance is accompanied by a presentation from ACT, which will give students an opportunity to reflect on the emotive themes of the play and on the possibilities of a career in the health and social care sector.”
