At our final The Radical Rethink webinar of the year on Friday, December 11 from 10am to midday we’ll urge delegates to sit right down and write themselves a letter…
We want people to reflect on the most incredible year most of us can remember and commit those thoughts to a time capsule to cast off to sea.
What would you write?
Yes, you can have a chunter.
Of course, it is right to mourn lost loved ones.
Who wouldn’t want to have a grumble about politicians and the economic situation?
If you lost a job, or maybe more than one, or your entire business 2020 has been devastating.
But I’d also argue 2020 also showed the best of the indominable spirit of human kindness. On these cold winter nights and chilly morns, will you recall warmer days when the sun shone as we Clapped for Carers and in memories of others whose put their bodies on the line?
How about the rediscovery of community spirit – the more local the better?
The extra time we spent together with loved ones (okay, maybe enforced in many cases)?
How we made the most of our free time – and found a new work-life balance?
What about those books we read and, in some cases, meant to write?
All those cleared out cupboards in kitchens, bedrooms, garden sheds and garages?
The step up in exercise – from pedal power to video aerobics and getting stuck into gardening?
Caring for the needy and dispossessed and our overall resourcefulness?
The Radical Rethink, for all those who have attended our marvellous, free thinking, sharing interactive webinars since summertime?
As we set sail to turn a hopeful corner, with a Covid vaccine or three on the way, just how will you describe the most momentous year of a generation?
Imagine what you would have told those no longer with us – and those yet to be born.
How will you bid 2020 farewell? Yes, with a measure of despair, but also at least a tad fondly…otherwise you may well have missed a point?
