26 Nov Experienced photographer brings beauty to book
A Worcester based photographer who has worked with some of the world’s top models is now focusing on his first book.
CGM photographic partner Alistair Cowin, who had studios in Knightsbridge in London, Malibu in California, Miami in Florida and Cannes in the South of France before settling in the Midlands, has turned the spotlight on the best British looks for his Beauty Book 2015.
The 75-year-old is publishing the softback and e-book to showcase women who don’t fit the catwalk model stereotype and who are often overlooked by agencies.
“I’ve photographed women of all types and body shapes for my book and the one thing they have in common is their natural beauty,” said Mr Cowin, who also runs fashion and beauty photography master classes for professional and serious amateur photographers.
“The book has taken me almost a year to complete and I hope that it will lead to further work in the industry for all of the models who have been involved. I’m also grateful to several talented makeup artists, some from the Heart of Worcestershire College, for creating the wonderful looks for my shoots.”
Mr Cowin was a well-known fashion designer in London before moving into photography 35 years ago.
During an illustrious career, including 12 years spent in the USA, he has photographed leading models including Cameron Diaz, Charlize Theron, Caprice and Yasmin Le Bon as well as big names from the entertainment and business worlds such as Strictly Come Dancing host Tess Daly, James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan and the late Formula One champion James Hunt.
He has also been in demand for society weddings at prestigious venues including Westminster Abbey, St Paul’s Cathedral, Blenheim Palace and Chatsworth.
